Since 1915, The Salvation Army has established a network of social services to meet a range of needs in Myanmar. Our programmes reach out to children who require care, communities living in the rural villages and other needy segments in our society.
Since 1915, The Salvation Army has established a network of social services to meet a range of needs in Myanmar. Our programmes reach out to children who require care, communities living in the rural villages and other needy segments in our society.
The Salvation Army Myanmar manages two children’s Homes and one Student Hostel. The Homes are situated in Phyu Township, Bago Region and Tarmwe Township of Yangon. The Student Hostel is located in Taunggyi, Shan State.
The Salvation Army also works with community self-help groups with the support of some Donor countries to help provide community needs such as tube-wells, Purified Drinking Water, Toilets, Canal Bridges, Community Hall, School Furniture, Solar Panel, Road Repair, Information Tower, Blood Bank, Oxygen Bottles, Youth Vocational Training and General Health Awareness in several rural villages in Myanmar.
To help empower women in Myanmar, The Salvation Army also operates a micro-credit scheme to support women.
To see the needs of those affected by HIV/AIDS, we also offer a community-based HIV/AIDS programme in Upper Myanmar, including community education and practical support for families affected by HIV/AIDS.
During the Covid-19 Pandemic, which started in March 2020 in Myanmar, The Salvation Army also distributed emergency food aid, Face Mask and hand sanitiser providing health awareness.
